The Citizens Preservation Fund wants to make you aware that there is a proposed C & D (construction and debris) landfill in Hernando County. This site was voted down by county commissioners, but has some how made its way through the court system.

The location is right in the Withlacoochee State Forest and the popular Croom ATV/hiking trails. This area is a red-level risk for aquifer vulnerability and sinkhole activity and could result in major groundwater contamination as well as be a risk to area wildlife and environment.

The Citizens Preservation Fund is seeking donations to help with all legal aspects of fighting this landfill. Although they have made a lot of progress, there is more work to be done. There will be holding  a community yard sale on Friday, July 9th. If you would like to donate your items or would like more information, please visit their website, www.citizenspreservationfund.com, or call Paige at 352-754-1759. Any help is appreciated!
