Dreaming of a faceless woman

"dream momma, i live in Tampa, read creative loafing, and follow your blog. i've been looking for a woman, a real woman for a long time. i had a dream that a woman brushed by me. i could smell her, it was terrific, and i went to find her but couldn't. suddenly she brushed by me again, even caressed my cheek. i ran after her again and she turned around and had no face. somehow it didn't matter, i still wanted to know her, and when i reached out to touch her i woke up." (sic)

Lucky you dreamer: you have just met your anima. According to Carl Jung, your anima (animus for women) is

the opposite sex in your psyche that not only influences thinking but creates an empathic connection to the women you meet.

Dream Momma guesses you have been a player and it hasn't really fed your emotional world; after all, anyone can have unconnected sex. So, due to loneliness, your age or stage in life, or any other current situation, your anima wakes up and influences your inner world. My guess is the next woman you meet (the faceless woman in the dream) will create a whole different energy in you. Your anima will encourage you to court her, be romantic, and feel more connected to her. This is a good thing since you've been a male predator way too long and, other than impersonal sexual encounters, that hasn't helped you find your true Other.
