The holidays are a time to show good will toward your fellow man unless said fellow man has made a terrible Christmas movie. In that case, watch them get eviscerated at RiffTrax LIVE: Christmas Shorts-Stravaganza!, a live-in-theaters broadcast of the worst holiday entertainment ever produced summarily ripped to shreds by the Rifftrax crew of Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett (plus special guest Weird Al Yankovic!). The boys ring in the holiday by doing their Mystery Science Theater thing live from the California Center for the Arts, beaming it in HD to participating theaters (including several in the Bay area). In addition to hilariously destroying an atrocious collection of holiday shorts, commercials and an animated version of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, they promise to include a riff on a hilarious musical short extolling the virtues of pork. Weds., Dec. 16, 8 p.m. (encore Thurs., Dec. 17), Citrus Stadium Park Mall 20, 7999 Citrus Park Town Center Mall, Tampa, $12.50, visit fathomevents.com for full list of participating theaters. After the break: The Kanvas hip-hop dance-off and a Vince Naimoli book signing
More than 400 -- that's right, 400 -- poppers, lockers, bboys and bgirls, hip-hoppers krumpers, street dancers and spectators of every ilk emerged at the last Kanvas event (tonight marks its sixth incarnation). Come out for the VYB Dance Company's choreography showcase and a series of freestyle battles to choose Tampa Bay's favorite dancer (and the winner of $500 big ones). Also throwing down moves are August Motives, Marcus Borders and choreography by Jarvis Mardis. There's also a toy drive -- anyone who brings an unwrapped toy gets $3 off admission. Visit feelthevybonline.com for more info. Wed., Dec. 16, 8 p.m., The RITZ Ybor, Ybor City, $8-$10.
The "sometimes controversial, always straightforward" Tampa Bay Rays founder (and considerable contributor to UT's coffers), Vince Naimoli, signs copies of his autobiography, Business, Baseball and Beyond. Visit vincenaimoli.com for more info. Weds., Dec. 16, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Vaughn Center, University of Tampa, Tampa.
