Upcoming sustainability discussion group with astronaut Edgar Mitchell

The sixth man to walk on the moon, Edgar Mitchell ScD, has had a different perspective of us and Planet Earth since his return from space in 1971. What he experienced as he looked out the porthole of the Apollo 14 space craft was a shock to his beliefs and what he’d learned at Harvard and MIT about astronomy.
His book, The Way of the Explorer: An Apollo Astronaut's Journey Through the Material and Mystical Worlds, tells it all.
Dr. Mitchell will spend Saturday, December 5th in Tampa Bay awakening the need to recognize that we are at the break point of sustaining human life on Earth and that we are among life's building blocks. He will ask, “How did we get here? Where are we going?”, as he presents the latest from frontier scientists’ research about where we are today and what needs to happen to co-create a green community – now. They all agree that climate change, peak oil and food shortages are looming causes of alarm and potential political clashes.
Sure to come up is the Disclosure Project. He and Tampa Bay’s Will Miller visited with the Chief of the Intelligence Committee of the Joint Chiefs, who acknowledged that the Roswell story was real. He later retracted it, saying he’d overstepped his bounds. Earlier, Barry Goldwater, Jimmy Carter, and Webster Hubble for President Clinton got the same message.
There will be others to talk about Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol and its references to the Institute of Noetic Sciences, which Mitchell founded to research consciousness and the interconnection of mind/body/spirit, his inquiry after the experience returning from the moon.
Besides Mitchell, we'll learn what’s happening in Tampa Bay in World Café dialogues, sharing what inspires us to make a difference.
