Dream Momma, A reoccurring dream I had as a child was that I was riding in a van (sitting on the floor) with Punky Brewster and the black
guy on the? show. It was a hula-hoop van, dont ask. We stopped at this bank, and the driver tried to catch me with a hula-hoop as I got out, he was trying to keep me from going and stopping a crime. Punky and dude and I went and hid behind a bush, and these three bank robbers were walking from the bank all pink panther like. Their faces were like those you see on neighborhood crime watch signs. Then I woke up. (sic)
Hmmm. Dream Momma will help you. Vans, unlike lets say, a sports car, are symbols of two things. One is work and the other is a group of people. Sitting on the floor of a van indicates your status in the family or at work. Perhaps you were the youngest or in now-time at work, the newest hire.
For other readers out there, if, in a dream, you are in a car, pay attention to the type of car.
Cars are symbols. Sedans usually indicate stability, station wagons mean kids, sports cars indicate the single life, vans mean work, etc. Also pay attention to who is driving if it is not you.
Now, lets look at Punky Brewster, a delightful, resourceful girl who is abandoned by her mother, has a faithful dog, and struggles throughout the show to find familial stability. As a matter of fact, if I recall, she loops in and out of an orphanage. She is a symbol. Ask yourself how much you identify with her (and I dont mean gender). Its a very important question.
The driver of the van is your shadow, a shadow that doesnt want you to be heroic in life (stopping a crime). He succeeds and you hide with two symbolic minority groups watching the bad guys escape.
Heres what you need to do. Using your dream, write a simple script recasting yourself as the hero. With Punkys and dudes help, using flexible steel hula hoops, capture the three bank robbers, throw them in the van, throw the driver (your shadow) out of the van and take the bad guys to jail. Afterward, go out and celebrate by going to First Friday in downtown St. Pete.
