Dreaming of an unhappy pregnancy

I dreamed I was pregnant and not happy about it. In the dream I was a virgin and wondered how could this happen to me? People from all over, some from my past, were happy and congratulating me. My old boyfriend was there smirking. The dream was so strong I woke up wondering if I am pregnant. In real life my boyfriend and I do have sex so I’m not a virgin and we both are too young to get married. Sometimes I wonder what I would do if I did get pregnant?”

This is a good example of the "wake up call" dream -- a dream that gives the dreamer a reality hit, that provokes thought about future scenarios. And in this case it is a warning dream. There is also an element of denial in this dream -- "how could this happen to me?" Perhaps the dreamer wishes she were still a virgin and didn't have the fear of pregnancy hanging over her. Young men are going to hate this next statement but Dream Momma believes that young girls have sex to please their partners. Dream Momma also believes that young men are inexperienced lovers so what's in it for the girl? The answer: fear of pregnancy.
Now Pregnant Dreamer, Dream Momma can assure you that one thing you would definitely do was keep the baby. I say this because your inner world, the happy and congratulatory crowd, is celebratory. Those symbolic images represent your beliefs and values. Your joy of life. I’m guessing the smirking boyfriend is an internalized masculine judge, someone who represents past parental values (unmarried sex is “dirty”).
Now here’s the problem. I don’t know your age but you do seem young to me. What if you really did get pregnant? Your life would change dramatically; it’s the most dramatic thing that can happen to a woman. Could you handle it or would you run scared, get an abortion, and go against everything you truly believe about life? Dream Momma has learned that people who go against their values eventually hate themselves, even get clinically depressed.
My advice is to either stop having sex (unless you are so hooked on it you can’t) or make damn sure you take each and every precaution -- and that includes not drinking, as many young women get pregnant when they have spontaneous, unprotected sex in the passion of the drunken moment.
