I just breathed the same air as Adam Lambert, an American Idol concert review

As an American Idol Super-Fan, it is pretty shocking to even me that I had not attended the annual extravaganza of singing, dancing and sequins that is American Idols Live. But finally, I have been there, I have done that and it was worth the wait.

I won't bore you with a play-by-play recap of the entire show, but here are the first-half highlights of the people worth mentioning.

Megan Joy: Sporting a baby bump — yep, start the rumor people, you heard it here first.

Anoop: That Anoop, he is adorable and as it turns out, he has family here. (Note to self: find the Desai family and stalk their holiday gatherings).

Scott: Still can't see.

During the intermission, the anxiety started to build for me. Adam (pictured, all photos by Tracy May) was mere MINUTES from taking the stage.  What will he be wearing?  What is he going to sing?  Will he announce that he is really straight and looking for a blonde, amateur blogger who likes to bake cupcakes to make his wife? I don't know, maybe...maybe.

Finally, the lights darkened for the part of the show that actually counts and I got very excited to see my second favorite Idol take the stage. Allison was looking f-i-e-r-c-e and she sounded... eh, well she could have sounded better, she is still better than that Gokey dude.

Speaking of, Danny "The Gokester" Gokey...don't get me wrong, I, like most of the ladies in the audience, have a soft spot for his tragic widower ways, but c'mon, no way this guy belongs in the top 3! Putting that guy before Adam Lambert is like giving me a deli tray and then telling me that there is a filet mignon encrusted in diamonds and surrounded by rainbows on the way. Nobody gives a crap about the deli tray, you know what I mean? Of course you do.

AND THEN HE ENTERED THE SPOTLIGHT. For the next few songs, I was entranced by his beauty, his bedazzled jacket, his near constant pelvic thrusts and yeah, his voice. I love me a little Adam Lambert (or a lot, I love me a lot) and this boy is not messing around, grown women were crying*, young girls were screaming at ear-piercing decibels** and I have never seen someone slip so much sexual body language into one song***. Just when we all thought it could not get more fabulous, he ripped off his leather jacket to reveal a vest, just a vest, Holy-Freaking-Magical-Moment.

Oh yeah, and then that Kris Allen kid sang some songs, he wore plaid and he played an acoustic guitar and he shouldn't have won, whatever, I'm over it.

At the end of the show, this had to be my favorite part, everyone sang "Don't Stop Believing."  LOVE IT!!!  They were all dressed in black and sparkles and there were disco balls everywhere and as I am typing this I am realizing that I am probably much closer to being a gay man than I had ever realized.  Who cares, it was everything I had hoped it would be, maybe more.

To those dying to know, Adam did not make any announcements regarding his need for a random girl from St. Pete to be his future-wife ...yet.

*I didn't actually see this but you and I both know it happened.

**This is true.

***And I liked it.

LOL, love your review. I was there and I think you covered everything. But how could you not mention the whip and the handcuffs that adam played with last night during his Bowie Medley? Hot, hot hot!

Great Review! I was there so close to the stage-it was so overwhelming Every sense you have in your body becomes so alert visual(he is so gorgeous) vocals out of this world and then the way he moves -well that just pushes it over the edge I think my mind went blank as he desended down into the stage .It seems so fierce and so short we all wanted more!. Sorry but we had to leave and miss the rest because a few of us actually were feeling light headed and needed air.

I am starting to think we have all been usurped by aliens and injected with undying love for Adam because I actually read and liked listening to your chatter about him. I like listening to anyone talk about how fantastic, beautiful and talented he is. I just can't get enough of him and I am in my 40's!!! What has happened to all of us???

Adam is a sexy piece of filet mignon and I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! @ Guest, I know, i know, it was all really overwhelming and I didn't know exactly how to put that into words without turning this whole review into softcore porn. @ Ally, you were close to the stage?!?! Damn you. @ JLM, Don't ask what happened to us. Just know that it is a beautiful and fabulous thing. Thanks for the comments guys!
