As was widely reported, my family and I lost our home to a fire last year. In an effort to turn a bad situation into something really positive, to be environmentally conscious and energy efficient, and to save money and lead by example, we built our new home to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Many friends, colleagues, and constituents have inquired about my family's new home and the green features, and so my staff and I decided to grab the video camera and record a tour to share with those interested.

What I stress in the video and will continue to stress is that not everyone can do everything, but everyone can do something. I hope there is something in the video that inspires you to make a change to your own home.

The green ideas are good, the architecture is non-existent. For instance, the one inch thick faux stone veneer on the right gable (only) looks clunky. Competent architecture AND LEED should be the goal.

Keith, maybe he wanted more green features and less perfect architecture? I think the house looks great, its attractive, and I know it blends in well w that neighborhood.

i'm sure they like how the home looks or they wouldn't have said 'OK' to their architect on the design. the green features are great, and that seems to be thanks to the work of real building, a local green consulting firm. people have different tastes kieth!
