Okay, to be clear, the first time I went to this event I had no idea what to expect. We had heard it through the electronic grapevine that the event would be great from an artist's perspective. My wife, Natalie, is a pastel artist that paints mostly nudes, and it would give us an opportunity to network with potential models and other artists. I had heard about music performances, read about fire breathers, and seen a few video clips of previous performances. Everything looked cool. Well, not everything - the naked part.
As we were driving to the event, I kept thinking, "We don't do naked." I had never been to any sort of clothing optional resort and had no idea what I was getting myself into.
How to describe the event? Well, the naked issues quickly dissolved. There were probably more clothed people than were nude, but it didn't matter anyway. There were so many entertaining art events going on, and the environment was so totally positive that it was simply not an issue. No one seemed to care one way or the other.
We recognized many faces from the Tampa art scene. There is so much room to move about, take pictures and get to know people. If you haven't been yet, and you are of the artsy mindset, I strongly encourage you to check it out.
Oh, and foam. Yes, foam. Seriously, lots of foam. Go see it.
The foam parties are held every Friday and Saturday evening from 8 to 12, at the Riverboat Nudist Resort in Land O Lakes (weather permitting). For more information, visit www.naturallynude.com. You can also find out more about Xzanthia's artwork at www.xzanthia.com.
