John Legend: Season's best commencement speech?

There are plenty more commencement speakers to come this graduation season, ready to send college students over metaphoric thresholds into the uncertain future. But it seems unlikely that any of the speakers will be as casually eloquent and, well, cool as R&B star John Legend, speaking at his alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania. (Video after the jump).

Combining his own memories of Penn and his experiences growing up in the Pentecostal church, riffing on truth and soul and even getting a laugh out of the phrase "inquiry, methodology and praxis" (well, it was an Ivy League crowd), he made maximum impact while not seeming to try too hard, kind of like the way he sings. HuffPo has the transcript. Video below:

Extremely powerful speech. Few things make me feel good these days. John's words and stories of commitments gave me inspiration. Thanks for the post.
