On this week's edition of the CL Lost podcast, we discuss Daniel Faraday's past, pat ourselves on the back for calling the Faraday/Widmore connection, and debate whether "The Variable" was a great Lost episode or the greatest Lost episode ever!

Great thoughts! I still wonder about something. From what I understand, ths upcoming "incident" is the others' "attack" on the Dharmites and that's how Ben takes over. Did they ever say how the attack goes down? Farraday does go to the Other camp to get them to set off Jughead. Isn't it conceivable that is what the other's attack on the Dharma village always was? It leads back to the circular nature of the show... Ben comes to power because of the attack and eventually goes on to lead the people back in time to put them in place to help him in the past. It certainly doesn't seem like a conscious plan, but it's pretty interesting, still. Looking forward to next week!
Hey Karl, You're mistaken, but don't feel bad. Up until about a week ago I was living under the same misconception you are: Namely that "the Incident" and "The Purge" are the same thing. They aren't. "The Incident" that we are leading up to is a massive release of energy that the Dharma bums will cause by drilling into a rock at the future Swan Site. (The hatch was put in place to contain that energy, and the pushing of the button every 108 minutes was some kind of venting procedure.) "The Purge" happens not in the late 70s (the show's current time frame) but in the early 90s, and results in the death of all Dharma members on the island. Hope that helps. Thanks for listening! We'll try to keep it entertaining for you. PS: You don't by chance wear an eye patch, do you?
Ah, I see. I was under the impression that the "purge" as you called it was, in fact, in the 70's. But yeah that doesn't make sense since Ben is still a kid and we see him later and he's still an adult. Oh well, wild accusations and insane theories are the best parts of watching Lost! PS: No eyepatch here, I'm afraid. I am a bit sad panda that I can't come be in the studio audience, though. The bomb shelter where you do your podcast is great.
