It's all come down to this. All the signs in the restaurant, the mass emailings to patrons and friends, the voting every ten minutes like clockwork. Casa Tina and Mekenita Mexican Grill have both done their jobs, mobilizing fans and getting out the vote. But now is crunch time for these taco prom queens.
Can the Dunedin Darling beat the Lutz Lover?

wait - the score was just 14 to 6 Mekenita, what happened???
Wait a minute. How come Casa Tina's votes go up by 1 every minute??? Casa Tina might have better IT guys automating the voting process, but that's OK though, Mekenita has better tacos. :)
seems a little rigged casa tina seems to getting a vote every minute to two minutes. Strange huh. Go I T. Mekenita FOOD is BETTER you mean.
seems like casa tina DOES have there IT person WORKING overtime tonight!!! EVERY minute to two minutes a vote comes in. Mekenita has Better food despite there IT person
I'm afraid I'm not a tecky...we just have 17 years of dedicated customers from here in our Dunedin restaurant and a following from Miami and Matzatlan who believe in us. Thanks to our friends(our customers)for supporting us. And a shout out to Jen from zurritos for the nice words. Your place looks great too!
I think Casa Tina has this one and why shouldn't they? They have been open for as long as I can remember I went their with my brother the first time when I was 25 and now I am 40. They have been serving good for for that entire time! I love the Mole platter where there are several differant sauces and fresh tortillas! I could eat it right now! Go Casa Tina! you deserve it!
oh by the way I own Mema's Alaskan Tacos with my husband Sean! I brought him there one day to talk to Tina and try the food there. He loved it too...
What's fishy is at around 3 in the morning mekinetas gained around 200 votes when usually people aren't voting in the masses
I think the contest is an internet endurance contest rather than a taco contest. Obviously both restaurants have some very dedicated fans who are batteling it out for fastest access to the voting. Old Traditional mexican flavors versus a new twist to the old favorites - the true test would be a taste test not internet race... However, it is fun to see people getting involved. I personally love Mekenita's fresh new flavors but will definately be trying Mema's and Casa Tina's in the future. Great to see a new family restaurant taking on the old favorites.
Whoever designed this site, didnt get the voting mechanism in place....step away from the bong!
Mekenita's food is awesome! I love all the different flavors. Definately a place to try if you haven't yet.
Hey Nico!~ Casa Tina has been open for so long there are a lot of people who have eaten there! You say they have a person doing the voting but I know for sure thats not true. Maybe since its you doing the blaming maybe your the one who does the double voting? Hmmm?
Such a strange thing that even in a "Best Taco Contest", people find the need to get snarky towards each other. I'm not an IT guy, but my vote is for Casa Tina.
I work at the company across the street from Casa Tina, and we love the food in there. By the way, the vote thing is broken, I have not been able to vote.
We love Casa Tina...we are in the company accross the street and we love it.
I think Casa Tina is going to have to have lunch at Mekenita's tomorrow. Dont worry, Rand will give you a deal on the TACOS
To all that voted for Mekenita, Thank you very much! For Casa Tina, Killer job, we had fun, despite all the funny remarks people left on the blog! Good Luck! Rand and Tiffani Packer (Mekenita Mexican Grille)
Casa Tina bites the dust? What dust? Mekanita just barely won...
Why would they drive all the way to Lutz for mediocre tacos when they have been making great tacos for years and they do 10 times the business of Mekanita. Deal or no deal they would not drive all the way to Lutz for that...
Mekenita is # 1, when I say number, you say 1..number..1 number..1!!!!!! Mekenita ia one hottttt senorita!!! Go Mekenita!!
Congratulations Mekenita Mexican Grille!!! Not only are your tacos tasty, fresh and hip but so are other menu items. My fav is the plantain nachos! But what I love most is your charming staff, decor and owners! Thanks!
Thanks to all of you that support us, especially our staff that really went that extra mile to excite our customers to get invloved. Thanks to our competitors at Mekenita and Mema's, we will come try your food someday as we respect our fellow restauranteurs that give their hearts and souls and many, many hours to this fun business we are in. Finally thanks to our children that work with us at Casa Tina's...it's all for you! Javier and Tina Marie P.S. Thanks for the fun Brian...let's have a taco festival...after spring break and the high season though!
Tina and Javier, I am SHOCKED that your tacos were outvoted!!! My children have bragged about your tacos to about one-half of the population of the state of New Jersey! Your fish tacos have me salivating every time I think of them, and, in fact, since it's Friday during Lent, I think I'd like to hop on a plane right now to eat some!!! As you know, we don't go out for Mexican food ANYWHERE other than Casa Tina!!!! No one else can hold a candle to your perfection. Your longest and most devoted fans on the planet (ok, besides Christian and Amanda!), Stacey, Carey, Ike and Jane
Rand and Tiffani, we have know you for a long time and have enjoyed your tasty dishs both at the resturant and at various catered affairs that you have done for us. Friends yes and happy customers as well. This was a lot of fun, I am sure all at Casa Tina enjoyed the excitment as well. Looking forward to your new store in Trinity this September. The build out is half way done. Start shoping for the fixtures that will fill the store as South West Pasco is in for a real treat when Mekenita's opens in Trinity this Fall. And Casa Tina, good luck to you as well, this was alot of fun. Bill and Regina
