In the past, whenever you've seen "Naturally Raised" stamped on a shrink-wrapped pack of chicken breasts, it's meant zilch. Thankfully, the USDA is here to protect American consumers with new guidelines for using that content-less term. Kinda.

Ethicurean sums it up:

Having "analyzed over 44,000 comments from producers, processors, consumers, and other interested parties," the USDA decide to ignore everybody but the big boys and define it as "raised entirely without growth promotants, antibiotics...and have never been fed animal by-products."

Oh, and I did mention that even this neutered rule is strictly voluntary, right? Here's what Ethicurean wanted the rules to include.

Great! now my little meat world is about to go Kaput. I thought I was buying organic, naturally raised meat. Yes this broad labelling allows products under the natural label that otherwise would have no place here..this bites..AH I give up..I am just going to inject myself with GH and be just like my food http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/dailyloaf/rishi/
