1. Skipper's Smokehouse stages its 29th annual Halloween shindig, the Freaker's Ball. This year's headliner is North Carolina rockabilly troubador Unknown Hinson (pictured below), with the Rev. Billy C. Wirtz serving as Master of Ceremonies.

2. On Sunday, Florida Clergy of Fairness Tampa Bay -- which represents more than a dozen area faith communities -- stage a "Standing on the Side of Love" public rally in opposition of Amendment 2, a.k.a. the Florida Marriage Amendment, a proposed ban of same-sex marriage in Florida. Guest speakers at the ralley include Dunedin Mayor Bob Hackworth, Florida House of Representatives Rep. Bill Heller, and ACLU West Central Florida Director Rebecca Steele. The rally begins at 4 p.m. Sun., Oct. 26, and takes place at the Lowry Park Bandshell. Attendees also enjoy live music by Faith Rivera, Harold Payne and a combined chorus from area churches.

3. If you must, there's Guavaween, child-friendly by day, socially acceptable display of gratuitous perversion for adults by night.

4. Three indie horror flicks are screened on Sunday evening as part of the fifth annual Halloween Horror Picture Show: A Gothic Tale, which weaves together the morbir stories of three hapless souls; Live Evil, a blood, guts and gore vampire movie by Clearwater native filmmaker Mark Terry; and Shadowland, another vampire movie about a mysterious woman who awakens without memory of who or what she is.

5. More than 50 local, regional and national authors are expected to attend the 16th installment of the St. Pete Times Festival of Reading.
