If you like your comedians to have television credits, you're in luck this week. A couple of heavy-hitters are in town, as well as other experienced, nationally-touring performers. Here are your best bets:

Comedy Clubs

D.L. Hughley at Tampa Improv. Hughley has plenty of movie and television credits, but his decades of stand-up experience are really put to good use when he's on stage. Not many comedians look as comfortable and confident as Hughley, especially when he's turning controversial topics into funny premises.
Showtimes are Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. 1600 E. Eighth Ave., Tampa. Info: improvtampa.com or 813-864-4000.

25 To Life at Tampa Improv. Three long-time headliners take the stage in one night. Steve Arik, Alan Prophet and Mike Rivera each have more than 25 years of stand-up experience, but these comedy "lifers" love performing and charming crowds with their time-tested (and often adult) material.
Showtime is Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Three and a Half Men at Tampa Improv. Bill Zapf, winner of this year's "Clash of the Comics," leads his former Clash team for a one-night only show. Zapf will be joined by comedy vets Sloan, Mary Tischbein and David Weingarten for a night of mostly-inappropriate humor.
Showtime is Thursday at 8 p.m.

Mary Lynn Rajskub at Side Splitters. Rajskub is well-known for her portrayal of Chloe O'Brian on 24, but her stand-up delivery has traces of another of her memorable roles — "Gail the Snail" on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Expect quirky, clever material from the comedian/actress. Showtimes are Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. 12938 N. Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. Info: sidesplitterscomedy.com or 813-960-1197.

Renard Hirsch at Side Splitters. Hirsch takes over headlining duties at this early Saturday show. His likable stage presence and observational humor gives him plenty of ammunition to keep an audience's attention.
Showtime is Saturday at 6 p.m.

Joseph Anthony at Snappers. Anthony seems like your neighbor in New York who's helping you move furniture, if your neighbor was also an established comedian with an eye for what's funny in everyday life situations. His show has a little bit of attitude and a lot of punch lines. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. 36657 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor. Info: snappersgrill.com or 727-938-2027.

Kenny Smith at Coconuts Comedy Club (at MJ's). Smith has a casual attitude and plenty of punch lines. He seems to find humor in almost everything, and he often chooses topics that you've probably experienced in some form yourself.
Showtimes are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 9:30 p.m. 5501 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach. Info: coconutscomedyclubs.com or 727-360-5653.

Stewart Huff at Coconuts Comedy Club (at MJ's). Huff brings his southern drawl and his flare for the absurd to town for one night only.  Showtime is Thursday at 9:30 p.m.  5501 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach. Info: coconutscomedyclubs.com or 727-360-5653.5501 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach. Info: coconutscomedyclubs.com or 727-360-5653.

Chris Gorges at 2 Palms Bar & Bistro. Gorges has an improvisational background, and he uses it to interact with the audience during his fast-paced set. His rapid-fire premises leaves audiences laughing, and the comedian out of breath by the time his show ends. Showtime is Saturday at 8:30 p.m. 2950 Gulf To Bay Blvd., Clearwater. Info: tampabaycomedy.com or 727-741-8014.
