Indie movie with locals screens at AMC Veterans

AMC Veterans will be showing an exclusive screening of Russel Friedenberg's (Ibid, Out of the Blue) Among Ravens.
The 2014 indie dramedy will makes its worldwide debut at the Nantucket Film Festival in New York and it will then makes its round throughout select U.S cities, Tampa, Fl included.

Inspired by real events, the film follows the interaction of a group of friends and family members as they coexist together in a secluded summer home during a 4th of July holiday weekend in Idaho. The film, carried through the eyes of young Joey (Jonny Sequoyah), exposes the adult characters as they are: men and women with intertwined, complicated pasts that can't seem to stand each other, yet remain by each other's side with minimal regrets. The young character's keen sense of observation leads her to compare her family and family friends to a clan of ravens, an animal that is "vein" and "mean" yet still chooses to stay close to family. Chad, a quirky outsider family friend, played by Will McCormack (Celeste and Jesse Forever, The Elf),  forms an unexpected friendship with Joey. Their bond leads to a more in-depth analysis about those who are deeply involved in the 'drama' of life versus those whom choose to observe it.

The film can be described as The Big Chill meets Little Miss Sunshine, the ideal character-study flick for the late twenty-somethings or thirty-somethings crowd who is not in the mood for the typical action-packed Hollywood feature.

Among Ravens features local talent from Bradenton:  producer, Dory Sperko ( X/Y, Sex Ed, and Wind Walkers) and actress Castile Landon (X/Y, Ass Backwards).  Amy Smart Joshua Leonard , Natalia Imbruglia , Christian Campbell,  and Victoria Smurfit ), take the leading and supporting roles.

The AMC Veterans' screening is scheduled to happen on Friday July, 18, at 7pm and it will be followed by a Q&A with local cast members, Dori Sperko and Castile Landon. For more information about screening times and ticket purchase, visit the AMC Veterans' website
