Pathos and frustration — familiar to most on Valentine’s Day weekend — will be explored in Workspace’s new exhibit, I Am So Sickened Now, a show that takes its name from a Morrissey lyric and opens tonight, Feb. 15, from 6 to 10 p.m.
The gallery will feature collaborative works by two seasoned artists, Tracy Midulla Reller and Justin Bryan Nelson. Midulla Reller is the founder and creative director of Tempus Projects, a cornerstone in the Seminole Heights art scene. Nelson is a core member of Tampa Drawers Sketch Gang, a drawing collective whose work is currently housed at QUAID, the secondary gallery at Tempus Projects.
Chris Kelly, owner and director of Workspace, said that “I Am So Sickened Now” will “playfully explore the notion of pathos and frustration, with a flip nod to both current and nostalgic trends in popular image making.” The acrylic pieces exhibit a paradigm of softness and rigidity that give them a striking depth.
The show will be viewable every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until March 15 at Workspace, located at 4501 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. facebook.com/tampaworkspace.
